You sent someone a Telegram message and it is still showing one check mark. Does that mean they blocked you? Not necessarily.
What Does One Tick Mean on Telegram?
According to Telegram, one check mark means your message was successfully delivered to the Telegram cloud. If the recipient allows notifications, Telegram may also notify them about the message.
Unlike some messaging apps, Telegram does not show a separate "delivered to the recipient's device" status because the same Telegram account can be active on multiple devices.
The important difference is simple:
- ✓ One tick: the message reached Telegram's cloud.
- ✓✓ Two ticks: the recipient opened the conversation and read the message.
Can a Message Stay on One Tick If You Are Blocked?
Yes, that can happen, but one tick alone is not enough evidence. A message can remain on one tick simply because the other person has not opened the conversation yet.
Telegram does not display a special "you have been blocked" notification. That means you should not use the check mark by itself to decide that someone blocked you.
What Other Signs May Suggest a Block?
If one tick continues for a long time, you may notice other changes as well. For example, Telegram states that blocked users are shown "last seen a long time ago".
You may also lose access to information that was previously visible, but privacy settings can cause similar changes. A hidden profile photo or last-seen status by itself is therefore not proof either.
The safest conclusion is to look at several signs together rather than treating one tick as confirmation.
